THE TRADITIONAL ANGLICAN CHURCH OF CANADA A Missionary District of the Anglican Catholic Church

The Very Rev. Robert S.H. Mansfield, SSC Vicar General

October 22, 2016

To the Clergy and People of the Traditional Anglican Church of Canada

Dearly Beloved in Christ: I am pleased to announce that Archbishop Mark Haverland has appointed The Rt. Rev. Rocco Aldo Florenza Bishop of the Diocese of the Resurrection as Episcopal Visitor to The Missionary District of Canada

(The Traditional Anglican Church of Canada)This appointment is effective from today, October 22, 2016

With the Archbishop, please remember Bishop Florenza regularly in the Liturgy and in your prayers. I have no doubt that he will reciprocate.

As Archbishop Haverland’s delegate, Bishop Florenza was with us at our recent 2016 Synod at Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre in Mississauga, ON where, among other things, he confirmed two young gentlemen from the parish of St. Matthew the Apostle, Ottawa, ON.

Most of our Clergy and the Lay members of the Synod had an opportunity to meet him there.

Twice he has been to the Thunder Bay parish of the Holy Trinity and St. Jude where he has conducted an ordination and confirmations—most recently the weekend just before Synod. On the first of May this year, he was at the parish of the Resurrection in Walkerville, (Windsor), ON for a confirmation.

Some Biography

Bishop Florenza grew up in Southern Connecticut in the late fifties and early sixties. He left his position as a sales Director with a major winery in California to study for the priesthood. He attended George Mercer Theological College in Long, Island and General Theological Seminary in New York City. He was ordained Deacon in March 1985 and priested in October of the same year. He was consecrated Bishop in 2003. He is the Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of the Resurrection in the Anglican Catholic Church, original Province. He is also the Rector of Cathedral Church of the Resurrection, in Ansonia, Ct.

Bp. Rocco is passionate about the historic Anglican Faith and for the well-being of the community his church serves. He has a heart for the broken, for families and for youth and wants to see the churches under his care grow and reach out to meet the needs of the communities they serve.

He is married to Linda his wife of forty two years. They have one Daughter and two Grandchildren. An avid reader and sports enthusiast, in his down time the Bishop and his wife can be found trail riding on their horses, Beau and Tucker, in Southbury, Ct.

Please give thanks for Archbishop Haverland’s assistance to us over the past 5 years or so and for his presence among us at our first two Synods in 2012 and 2014.

As Acting Primate of the ACC, Metropolitan of the Original Province, and Bishop of the Diocese of the South, Archbishop Haverland is a very busy man. The appointment of Bishop Florenza is a sign of his pastoral care for us.

 Fr. Robert S.H. Mansfield, SSC
